The Okuna Canal was used during the Edo Period when feudal lords would travel to the capital to spend a year in residence. This man-made canal is said to be the oldest in the area, initially created as a shortcut alternative to traveling around the peninsula and its curving, inlet filled coastline. Nowadays it’s a great fishing spot for locals, but any picture you take here will be surely be filled with history.
