They say the Kusanagi no Mitsurugi was enshrined at the hall of Doyoden until the Meiji Era. It’s since been removed, but you can still feel its magnitude and presence if you’ve heard the surrounding folklore. There’s an interesting Shinto ritual in this hall, where offerings are thrown onto the Doyoden rooftop and the upcoming festival is canceled unless a crow eats the offerings. It was almost like their brand of divination. Could it be that they were seeking a message from the god that resides within the sword?
