Hailing from Brazil, the artist resided in Masaragawa Village and engaged closely with the local community. Working in a community center lacking air conditioning, the artist persevered through a sauna-like environment, accompanied by a variety of insects. Initially bewildered by the countryside setting, the artist eventually embraced the surroundings, receiving support from neighbors, fishermen, and the entire village.
The resulting artwork is a product of this deep immersion in local life, offering a window into the unique rhythms and events that define the village. Take a moment to contemplate the artist’s vision of collaging these disparate but meaningful experiences, and reflect on the resonance of this work within the context of the village life.
