The Shimanto River runs right next to the Osakana-kan. What kind of fish do you think live there? In aquariums, you might think that there are mainly flashy, tropical fish, but the fish here are much more common.

You might think that they’re boring fish you can find in any old river, but if you look closely, you’ll see that some are colorful, some have patterns on their bodies, and some even change to a rainbow color depending on the season. This aquarium exhibits the fish from the Shimanto River in order of what can be found upstream, mid-stream, and then downstream.

The Osakana-kan is at a roadside station, but it’s rare for a railway station to be so close to a roadside station. There are also bakeries and gift shops, so it’s very popular. I would recommend checking it out!
