The palanquin on display in this exhibit was used by Naosuke during his time at Umoregiya, and it is of an incredibly simple construction.

It is of note that Naosuke was an avid horse rider who would go riding nearly every day, even traveling to Lake Biwa on horseback. Past the gate and nagaya, there are horse stables, and the well next to the entryway was used by the horses.

The kimono on the left side of the display case is an actual kimono worn by Naosuke.

On the right is a manuscript of Naosuke’s work The Spirit of Ichi-e in Chanoyu, which was transcribed by his companion, Ōkubo Kozen.

The photographs on display showcase a variety of events at Umoregi-no-ya. Some are from the spring of 1983, when Crown Prince Akishino was a student at the Gakushūin Senior High School and visiting the residence to research historic sites. Some were taken during a visit from Tokugawa Tsunenari, the 18th head of the Tokugawa clan, and his wife. Some were taken when current owner and university professor Ōkubo Haruo was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure.
