Kannon Rock marks the remains of a Kannon worship site believed to have been established in 1703. Sanskrit characters representing Kannon Bodhisattva are carved directly into the rock.

According to one tradition, the site was created at the wish of Tsuru hime, the wife of Shimazu Tsunatoyo, to pray for her father, Kira Kōzuke-no-suke, who was killed in the fabled 47 rōnin incident.

However, historical records raise doubts. Princess Tsuru had already returned to her family and divorced years earlier, suggesting this story may reflect later tradition rather than historical fact.
