When Gosamaru worked with Shō Hashi to take revenge on those who overthrew his family, he was a mere 26 year old. Seeing as Nakijin castle was impregnable, even with an army of 3000 people a frontal attack was out of question. The only way to make this place fall was by causing domestic conflict and destroy the place from the instead.

Gosamaru was deeply impressed by the skill put into the construction of Nakijin Castle. During the six years when Gosamaru lived in Nakijin Castle, he studied the structure down to each meticulous detail. It could be said that these years of study also contributed to the improvements he made to both Zakimi Castle and Nakagusuku Castle.
