──Gosamaru was loyal until the very end. This story has been told for generations and is still to this day.

Thanks to the one son who managed to escape, the Gosamaru line was not only able to live on but also redeem itself. For example, one of Gosamaru’s descendants brought a famous Chinese dragon statue (Ryūtoi) to Okinawa. These statues can now be seen in the Shuri Castle grounds and it is said that the cleanest water flows from their mouths.

This grave was actually built over 230 years after Gosamaru’s death. The descendants who had taken over Tomi Castle after Gosamaru’s son were granted the land from the Shuri Government. To this day, this is the oldest grave made in the kikko-midare masonry style.

Today, there are probably tens of thousands of Gosamaru’s descendants working here on this island and around the world.
