“The buildings at a construction site continue to change shape moment by moment behind the sheet.”
Through clearing the hills and fields, land development sites become more expansive. The artist thought this while looking at a sheet covering a building during construction.
The moment when the sheet used during construction is pulled off, a brand new building is revealed. However, when that sheet is placed on another building, it signifies demolition, the end of a building’s life.
Drawing inspiration from “buildings that change shape”, a construction site was created for Asia’s largest art museum, M+, located in Hong Kong with a planned release in 2020. This building is set to become the largest museum in all of Asia. Without doubt, this will transform the landscape of an ever changing city.
After taking in the pieces on the 2nd basement floor centered around the theme of change, cherish the feeling you get when you go back above ground. You’ll surely feel that you have entered a transformed environment.
