Let’s try out the “temizu-sha”, or hand-washing station.
First, hold the ladle with your right hand. Taking a scoop of water, rinse your left hand, switch the ladle between hands, and rinse your right hand. Change hands once again and take some water in your left hand to rinse your mouth. After rinsing your left hand once more, at last, tilt the ladle until it’s vertical to wash the handle. You should perform all these steps using one scoop of water.
It might be a bit difficult at first. If so, try looking around.
While observing the people purifying themselves, you might find some performing all this effortlessly. Blending in with the background, skillful execution of these steps could even purify those standing nearby. Anyone who has become so skilled at this must have countless days of experience.
Watch and learn, and maybe you will become just as skilled.
