While no one knows how old this tree is exactly, it reaches almost 15 meters in height, and the area around the roots is 4.5 meters wide. There are many of these trees in the Oki Archipelago, but to see a tree this large is very rare. This must be a prime location as this particular species of tree is prone to being blown over by the wind. Since it grows so quickly, it has long been used as lumber for building ships and furniture, making it quite an important tree.
