Himemiya is a shrine with a “haiden” or worship hall adorned with beautiful engravings. For example, while clouds are the norm in other shrines, here we see the engraving of various animals, such as an elephant. Be sure to walk around and take a good look of this worship hall and check out the engravings of the many other animals.

Just as we saw in the “The Large Laurel Tree” section of this guide, there are many laurels (Machilus thunbergii) planted around, serving as a sort of sacred grove to Himemiya Shrine.
