So what are the stone circles of Isedōtai after all?
It’s believed that there is a grave on this site based on the funeral ritual articles that were found. However, the strange thing is that there’s another grave located just outside the stone circle as well, leading us to assume that there were two burial sites. So who was buried in the stone circle grave? Was it the shamans with premonition abilities? Was it the heroes with legendary hunting skills? Or was it the artists who made magnificent pottery worthy of being buried in the stone circle? It’s said that the Jomon period was a time of equality, but in the late Jomon period, was there a hierarchical society being born?
In any case, the four stone circles created over 200 years carried many mysteries, the last being the fact that all four sites were abandoned at the same time. A mystery wrapped in mysteries.
