Here from the parking lot of Matengai Cliff, you can enjoy a magnificent enough view, but for an even better experience, let’s walk about 200 meters ahead to the top of the cliff. Please note that the area past the fence is a pasture, so please watch your step and be careful not to get too close to the cattle and horses. The neatly cut grass you see all around has not been mowed; it looks like this thanks to the grazing horses. If you watch them graze, you might notice that they eat closer to the roots than cattle do. This is why the landscape looks as if it has been mowed by machine.

When you reach the top of the cliff, you can see a magnificent coastal scenery that stretches for about 13 kilometers. Matengai Cliff, where you stand now, is a sheer cliff rising 257 meters above sea level. The scenery around you is a precious landscape carved out by the forces of nature. If you take a walk along the trail leading down from the cliff, it will take you all the way to Kuniga Bay below, from where you can see yet another spectacular view of this coast. The walk is about 50 minutes downhill, and is highly recommended for those who enjoy a small hike. In addition, there is a sightseeing boat that cruises along Kuniga Coast, past each of the scenic spots, and even into a 250-meter-long sea cave when the weather allows.

Take your time to enjoy the spectacular view of Matengai Cliff from various angles.
