From the Azumaya Gazebo, you can see the long, arched coast of the Shichirimihama Beach spreading out before you. A rare and magnificent view of the Kumano Sanzan, the Three Grand Shrines of Kumano, as well as the southernmost peninsula of Honshu Island is visible in the distance.

If you turn around and look to your north, you can see the north part of Iseji Route and the long coastal inlet located between Iseshima and Kumano.

What kind of people did you imagine while you walked through the historical footprints of Matsumoto-toge Pass? The road that travelers would take as they aimed for the Kumano Sanzan, the Three Grand Shrines of Kumano, goes a bit farther. If you continue down the Shichirimihama Hamakaido Route as you take in the Kumano Sea, you will finally arrive at the Kumano Sanzan. What did the people of the past wish for, what did they pray for? Let's think about this as we rest on the gazebo bench and look out at the ocean.
