Can you hear that? What’s that sound?
That’s the sound of a miniature four-wheel drive vehicle racing around a circuit.
This is a workshop overseen by Tamiya, a model manufacturer headquartered in Shizuoka City. Here you can assemble and paint miniature cars and dinosaurs using Tamiya tools, or make plastic shrink art accessories.
Tamiya was founded in 1946 as a wood processor and merchant. Shortly after in 1953, the company became a specialized manufacturer of wooden models to accommodate growing demand.
When the demand later switched from wood to plastic, the company followed suit and entered the plastic model manufacturing industry. In 1960 they released their first plastic model, the 1/800 scale Battleship Yamato.
Tamiya’s consistent improvement of their graphic design allowed their models to evolve from mere children’s toys into products that can be enjoyed by both adults and children alike.
Currently, Tamiya exports their products to more than 60 countries around the world.
At this workshop, we hope you can experience the joy of building something new, the excitement and jitters of miniature car racing, and the charm of a hobby where you can have fun and learn something new at the same time.
