This area contains Tsugami Shrine and a nearby lighthouse. Tsugami Shrine is dedicated to the god of safe navigation, and ships use this shrine and the lighthouse as landmarks to navigate toward Ryotsu. Did you see it from the ship window upon your arrival?

You’ll uncover even more if you explore the town on foot rather than just from the boat. For example, there’s a collection of prints known as the “Okawa Outdoor Print Museum.” Locals’ prints are exhibited on the walls of houses, turning the entire town into a museum. This is largely attributed to the influence of Takahashi Shinichi, a printmaker from Sado. Similar to his art, the prints in Okawa are inspired by the local nature and life.

As you stroll through the village, each piece seems to echo the region’s history and culture. We’re sure you'll experience the culture and history of Sado, the birthplace of this art festival.
