Take a look at both sides.
On the left, you'll see cedar trees that are part of a landscape shaped by faith. At Yakuoin, people donate cedar seedlings as a gesture of gratitude for their wishes being fulfilled. Each tree grew over the years, and some are over 500 years old, standing tall like pillars that symbolize the faith of generations.
On the right, there are signs with the names of those who donated seedlings. These signs are updated annually, demonstrating that this act of faith remains steadfast.
You’ll notice names of various organizations from Hachioji, indicating that Mount Takao remains a spiritual anchor for the local community.
As the wind blows through the cedar leaves, you may feel as if you’re hearing the voices of past worshippers.
The sounds of nature combine with those of human prayers, reminding us that this mountain is more than a tourist destination; it is a mountain of prayer.
