Welcome to the main building of Yakuoin, where Izuna Daigongen is enshrined.
The deity is depicted with a flame on his back, a sword in his right hand, and a rope in his left hand. He’s recognized as a protector against evil and a grantor of wishes.
As you approach the main building, you'll see a torii gate. This temple reflects "Shinbutsu Shugo," the blend of Shinto and Buddhism. While many temples separated these traditions during the Meiji Period, the ancient practice of praying to gods and Buddhas continues at Mount Takao.
Take a moment to put your hands together in prayer.
You might feel as though you’re being watched over. When people pray, it’s believed that the gods and Buddhas also pray for their happiness. This quiet exchange represents the essence of prayer here at Mount Takao.
