See that hill?
That’s “Ōyama” – the tallest hill in the garden.

Oh, and there’s also a peculiar stone arrangement too! What do you think it is?

“A dry waterfall.”

Ah! Who was that just now?

“Me. Under your feet. I am Ōyama.”

Ah, that’s right! Could you tell us more about this dry waterfall?

“It is not a literal waterfall, but a representation made by arranging stone. It expresses the rushing falls without a drop of water. The inner stones are raised to shape the falls, while the stones before you are arranged like a folding screen to create depth.”

Do you hear it? It’s like you feel the rush even without any water – it tickles the imagination!

“Indeed. While you are here, why not have a short hike along my spine? Take the stair steps – they’re quite safe to ascend.”

…Well, if they insist!

Still, isn’t it grand? You can see the skyscrapers in the distance!

But you know, it didn’t always use to look this way. Is that right, Ōyama?

“Yes…one used to see clearly out to the Bōsō Peninsula, Mount Tsukuba…even Mount Fuji!”

That’s right. Mount Fuji…it must have been quite a sight. I certainly recommend everyone take a second to drink in the view from here.
