One cup, and your “solo retreat” has begun.
At check-in, you’ll partake of a herb tea infused with locally grown ginger and turmeric. But this is more than a mere gesture of hospitality.
Remember: “Flushing” is the theme of the day. Sweating is one way to flush out your system. But before that, you must gently prepare your body.
Herbal roots such as ginger have been known since antiquity as ingredients that warm the body.
Why not warm yourself a little?
Make time during the day to raise your body temperature. At night it prepares for deep repose as it gently cools down.
That cup of tea is a small preparatory step. And there’s one other kind of tea to try here –
Head to the drink bar for a glass of lemongrass tea. An original blend exclusive to this lodge, featuring lemongrass grown in Hachijō Terrace’s own gardens mixed with mint, rosemary, and island citrus, you can count on its detoxing properties to help flush impurities from your system.
These teas were tailor-made for Hachijō Terrace by Nana Uchida, head chef of the illustrious “Nanakagura” restaurant in Kagurazaka, Tokyo, together with the Japan Root Herb Association (JRHA). As you enjoy their aromas, you are gently hydrating yourself, making for an important part of this retreat.
As time drifts on in your retreat, and the burdens you carry are flushed out of you, you begin to notice…
A sip of tea, then another. Hydration gently circulating within you, constant as the Kuroshio Current.
Little by little, the flushing of your burdens begins here.
