Try stepping out to the deck barefoot.
The sun warms the top of your feet as the wind caresses your cheeks to the sound of birdsong. A perfect place to spend some time meditating.
People often bristle at the word, thinking it means closing your eyes, emptying your brain and thinking no thoughts.
But meditation does not mean ceasing all thoughts, but rather “observing the flow of your thoughts.”
You don’t need to erase the worries that float through your mind. Just watch them pass by, like leaves on a river, and release them without holding or chasing any of them.
Worries and regrets can become heavy if you hold on to them too tightly. By witnessing and releasing, you merely let them blow past, like the winds on this island.
So take some time to just watch the thoughts that pass through your mind.
