Beauty and the beast. In these words what is being reflected? We want you to compare this building to Dior which is next door. The shape of the building is rough and the tiles of the surface are like that of an elephant's rough skin. Beauty and the beast may refers to the contrast between these two buildings. GYRE was constructed second, and it reflects the architect’s approach to creating a work, a process which considers the appearance of other nearby structures.
The name GYRE actually means whirlpool, and is symbolized by the spiral staircase. Each floor is twisted like a Rubik’s Cube. The twists makes the building incredibly unique.
Another unique aspect of the building is the amazing curation of the building’s tenants. There is consideration given to the combination of the shops and where stores are placed amongst one another. On top of this, the difference between floors is more evident than in most other buildings. This may be the effect of the GYRE vortex at play.
