At the end of over 40 days of continuous floods, outside of the dark boat was a vast sea—.
A scene from Noah’s Ark.
This piece is a depiction of what happens after.
Yohei Takahashi is an author who creates works based on the feelings and thoughts that pass through his body. A request for a piece about the Book of Genesis came in to J-WAVE, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. At first, Takahashi imagined the feelings of the animals aboard the ark and took it from there.
Being rocked by a large flood in a boat with no sunlight must have made the animals feel anxious. Finally, the ark stops and the animals, with whatever expectations or worries, look out upon the eternally vast sea. In this extraordinary scene, how disappointed could they have been? To check the condition of the land, Noah released doves. At first, the doves came back with nothing. However, the next time they were released, they brought back olive leaves. What joy the animals must have felt!
Radio always informs us of the end and beginning of a period. If there was a radio in that story, the doves would have been the hosts. Through the airwaves, the animals would have known that it was the beginning of a new era. Just imagine how they would have felt at that moment.
