War Hole: The Holy Land’s scar from the “Typhoon of Steel”

Following the route, you will come across a large hole on the right side holding water.

This is a mark left from the American naval gunfire at the end of the Pacific War. March 1945, U.S. Armed Forces attacked Okinawa in an episode of exhaustive naval gunfire known as the “Typhoon of Steel”. Sefa-utaki was unable to escape the artillery shells and was a field of flames.

Despite being protected and worshiped since long ago, the trees, which are all only about 70 to 80 years, stand as a reminder of this history.
