Beside Tsutaya is a camera store where you can buy both new and secondhand cameras in addition to lenses. The store also develops film and offers camera rental. Because a lot of the items are rare it is enjoyable to just look around.
Originally taking a picture was a very precious activity. Film was expensive and developing photos was somewhat onerous. In other words, it actually took some effort for the process to come to fruition. There were also many instances where the lighting was off or the final picture quality was fuzzy.
On the opposite end of the spectrum now we live in an age where we can take as many photos as we want, and we can do everything on demand. An age of instant gratification so to speak. No matter how many times you fail at taking the picture you can retake or even retouch those photos you have already taken. There is always a chance for a do-over
Nowadays it essentially takes no effort to take just one photo. Trying to recapture old times, film cameras especially disposable cameras are becoming more popular among young people. It is almost unthinkable that disposable cameras, which became popular in the mid 1980s, are experiencing a resurgence.
While it of course takes more effort to develop the pictures, it is exactly this effort which makes you come to love the process of film once again. You really start to look forward to seeing the final product while it develops. The amount of pictures is finite so there is a tension in taking every shot. I think the film camera fits the generation who wants to put more thought into what they use.
