The one who once loved me, I wonder how they’re doing now?

By the Fumi Hari Jizō statue surrounding Zuishin-in Temple, you will find many love letters memorializing the love stories that never came to be. They say that Komachi never longed for anyone enough to write a love letter herself, and that all of the love letters collected at the statue were from her admirers.

Maybe, Komachi would see this pile of love letters, remember the authors and think, “I hope he’s happy, wherever he might be.”

That moment of a potential love, that flashing instant of passing by a possible soulmate, physically or even in your thoughts-- it all happens so fast, as quickly as a shooting star falls from the sky. Where did it all end up?

Can you remember a moment like this from your own experience? Sift through your memories until you find the perfect one, and silently think to yourself, “I hope they’re happy now.”

STEP1: Think about someone who confessed their feelings to you and the words they used to express themself. Then write those words down on a piece of paper as a “proof” of their love.

STEP2: Drop that piece of paper in the Fumi Hari Jizō Post.
※Your letter will be memorialized in the Fumi Hari Jizō Post.

STEP3: Take home a page of the “Poem of a Small Love.” Now that you’ve experienced sending as well as receiving love letters, how does it make you feel about the story of Komachi?

※Steps 1 and 2 are free. Step 3 costs 500 yen.
