As you walk the streets of Urabukuro, you’ll suddenly stumble upon a pencil-shaped pole. It is a landmark of the area. “Let’s just meet at the Pencil,” they would say. It has been a long-standing meeting spot, around since Mr. Oga was a student.

Inside the Pencil Building, you’ll see all sorts of stores that sell ceramic dishes, beautifully designed cutlery, and other interior goods that inspire visitors to look around.

Despite having a unique vibe, Urabukuro has maintained its authenticity, which hasn’t changed from old times. But what were these shops like before? Mr. Oga explained that the first Uniqlo store also used to be here. Let’s head towards the site of the Uniqlo store.
