Mr. Tanaka, the owner beloved by everyone from the locals to famous baseball players, originally managed this restaurant under the name Toraji for nine years. He has since changed the location and re-opened it in the Ekinishi area. The first-floor counter has eight seats, while the second floor has tables to accommodate more people. Still, there are fewer seats than before. Mr. Tanaka explains his reasoning behind this by saying that he wanted to provide more attentive service to each individual customer.
The signature dish of the restaurant is okonomiyaki–a Japanese-style savory pancake–with a fluffy cheese omelet on top called the Fuwatoro Special. Its rich taste and thick consistency make it a fun dish to eat.
The restaurant stands out among others as it’s open until the last train. Even those who prefer to have okonomiyaki to finish off the meal sometimes visit the restaurant on a full stomach. They also launched a new menu called “Nikudama SoBurger” for single visitors, a burger-style okonomiyaki. Okonomiyaki integrated into a bar. We found the perfect combination.
