“Senju Banzai Daidai Kano” is a prayer for eternal prosperity. The first two characters mean “a thousand years,” which represents the eternal health and long life that this prayer beseeches. Sometimes the second character is written as “turtle” rather than “autumn,” to add a little extra luck to the prayer since turtles are seen as a symbol of luck in many Asian cultures. The artist, Yasuko Senshu, left this piece as a blessing of continuous prosperity for the customers that visit this room.
