MRS. SUWAI SETHARIN(MRS. PENN SETHARIN)
BORN IN 1954 IN PHNOM PENH, LIVES IN TOKYO

In 1974, Setharin received a scholarship to study in Japan.

Worrying about a daughter who was going far from home, her mother gifted her a gold necklace with a Buddha pendant to protect her. Her father gifted her a watch.

In 1974, Setharin travelled from Cambodia to Japan using an old passport issued during the Lon Nol era. The passport became invalid after Cambodia was taken over by the Khmer Rouge. She has kept the passport anyway because it is a historical document that holds deep meaning for her.
