MRS. HAGIWARA KANNA(MRS. CHHEANG SENG TEAKKHENA)
BORN IN 1970 IN PHNOM PENH, LIVES IN KANAGAWA

Kanna lost her father when she was just five years old, a few days before the Khmer Rouge regime commenced.

During the regime, Kanna was a child. So, she was separated from her mother and put into a children’s group while her mother was put in another group. She lived separately from her mother since childhood. Kanna was given a task to guard paddy fields from the birds. What Kanna remembers most was Khmer New Year in April. During Khmer New Year, the Khmer Rouge allowed parents and relatives who lived far away from each other to reunite. Kanna’s mother visited her and brought her two guavas. She then had to leave again. That was the last time she saw her mother’s face.
