MRS. SOK PHORN
BORN IN TAKEO IN 1965. LIVES IN KANAGAWA

In 1979, Phorn’s family escaped to a refugee camp along the Khmer–Thai border. They walked across a big lake at night under the moonlight. Her family walked through the forest before they could reach Kok Thyung camp at dawn.

After going through many challenges, Phorn grew up to become a woman in a refugee camp. In Khao-I-Dang camp, young Phorn wanted to be attractive like any other young women. She tailored some outfits, which she brought with her to Japan. At the time, Phorn was very skinny at only 36kg.
