The concept of Shibuya Stream is to become a “holy land for creative workers” where people, water, and time all flow simultaneously.

Shibuya might just seem like a bustling tourist area, but there are many creators who work and make their living here on a daily basis. So they wanted to create a space where those who are inspired by Shibuya could bring that back to a peaceful space. A place where you could remove yourself from the hustle and bustle, and look inward. This cycle of creativity is the concept that gave birth to the Shibuya Stream.

Take a moment to close your eyes as you stand in Shibuya Stream. Echoes, nature, the faraway sounds of the city. You might even feel the flowing pressure of the water from the Shibuya River. If you sharpen your senses, there may be things you missed that you begin to notice. This is the overwhelming culture of Shibuya that carries through all of the places we have introduced so far. The mixture of old and new. Shibuya isn’t just about birthing new cultures, it's also about connecting the past to the future through the values and memories passed down over time.

For example, if you look down at the road there are lines that look like train tracks. This was once the location of the Tokyu Tohoku Train Line’s Shibuya Station. Those familiar with the old landscape can see vestiges of it preserved around them. The Shibuya River is the same. There is a newly constructed promenade that you can take along the river all the way to Daikanyama. Your journey doesn’t end here, so feel free to continue on your own walking tour!
