Walking The Kumano Kodō

Just as it’s said that even after crossing the seven hills in Kumano, there are still many more, and the Kumano Kodō Iseji route is one of the toughest. However, the most grueling is the rocky Yakiyama-goe route, one of the most difficult to traverse in the western part of Japan. If the steepness didn’t make it hard enough, the monkeys and bandits in the Edo era made it dangerous to walk through. So then why did people continue their pilgrimage through here?

After braving the difficult journey, offering prayers to the various stone buddhas and pilgrimage stones you see along the way, what will you feel when you finally arrive at the beautiful Mikisato coast of Kumano-Nada?
