Immersive theater "Cat Town" 2026

Overview
A new work of immersive theater inspired by the poet Sakutaro Hagiwara, who made the Shimokitazawa area his final home. The piece travels through the streets from the Shimokitazawa Station square to Setagaya-Daita Station. It begins at night, in front of Shimokitazawa Station: a whisper from "the Poet," somewhere in the bustle of the crowd, draws the audience into a world of poetry and illusion.

Synopsis
In Shimokitazawa, there is a strange town haunted by cats.
In a town that never stops changing, a poet who has lost his sense of wonder sets out walking by the light of the full moon. He follows the railway line as it stretches straight ahead, sensing someone's eyes on him, and keeps walking. Then, just as the fear of losing his way takes hold, he stumbles upon it: an otherworld on the hidden side of the town, haunted by cats. What cannot be seen begins to come into view. An immersive theater experience of audio and dance.

daisydoze is a creative unit making a distinctly Japanese form of immersive theater. Rather than inventing fictional settings, the company works with real places, drawing out the history and mythology of the land so that each story carries the site-specific character of where it is performed. Its work moves freely across the theatrical elements of dance, song, and acting. Featured in a range of art media in Japan and abroad, daisydoze is one of the immersive theater companies to watch right now.
