Thank you for visiting Sunpu’s Workshop, Takumi-Shuku.

First, take a deep breath.
Do you smell the faint scent of wood?

Now, let’s take a look around.
The entrance is decorated with various kinds of traditional crafts.
This shows you the different things you can make here.

There are six options: Suruga bamboo crafts, fabric dyeing, woodworking, lacquer, pottery, and model assembly.

“Suruga bamboo crafts” showcase the beauty and flexibility of bamboo.
“Fabric dyeing” showcases the beauty of patterns emerging over time.
“Woodworking” lets you enjoy the changes of material over time.
“Lacquer” reveals a magnificent shine through repeated shaving and polishing.
“Pottery” lets you enjoy changing shapes however you please.
“Model assembly” uses quality and specific tools.

So, what kind of craft draws you in today?

In addition to viewing the six exhibits on display here, you can also join the craft workshops. Take a look around, listen to the audio guides from each workshop, and choose the one you’d like to try.

This facility also has a play space for children, two cafes, a Japanese sweets shop, and a select shop that sells food and crafts. Please stop by and take a look.

Be sure to look at the details of the facility as you walk around, and you might find some hidden treasures here and there.
