Which portion of this building do you find interesting? Is it the building block-like white marble and sky blue granite? This building is like a toy house depicted in a drawing. Looking from the side or peeking inside, the building's expression changes. Currently the space is used as a wedding reception space and as a photography studio.
Do you think that this design is both unique and courageous? In post war Japan there were not many restrictions on the landscape. Most colors and materials could be used at the artist's discretion. In addition to this freedom, many years ago in Japan there was an abundance of financial resources, and so many foreign architects gathered in Tokyo to seek freedom of expression for their work. After the burst of the Japanese bubble in the late 1980s, grey buildings, similar to the economic conditions of the time, began to grow in popularity. In 1991, in the middle of collapse in the Japanese economy, the playful and joyous design of this building was completed. It is a building that was built in a residential area rather than the main street. One rumor is that the “A” letter you can see on the entrance of the building refers to the Italian Aldo Rossi, the architect behind the design.
