Here is another man-made river that draws water from Yamanaka Lake, but this one is different from one we heard earlier.

This river is called Yana River, and this is the place where pilgrims of Fuji-kō would purify themselves before entering the oshi homes.

Yana River runs down a slope, parallel to the main street. Some priests modified the terrain on their land so that they could create waterfalls within the river. The rushing water of the falls was a popular way for visitors to cleanse themselves.
