Before falling asleep, let’s reflect on everything we have done today.
At night, people tend to focus on the negatives. It’s not technically a bad thing to be negative, but as you continue to draw your attention to the negative things, you will be left with only the negative impressions in the end. That is why we want you to take a moment to focus on the positives. For example, what is one positive thing that happened today? It doesn’t matter how small or trivial it may seem, let’s just try to remember one good thing that happened throughout the day.
So what was your “happy occurrence” of the day? Why did this happen? Who was able to provide you with this experience? Let’s mull over the reason why this happened.
By looking back on these happy moments and proactively finding ways to improve your mood, you can embed these happy memories into your brain. There is something in your brain that is referred to as the “good mood amygdala”, and by training your “good mood” brain circuits, you can become more positive overall. Don’t think too much about things. Taking a minute to imagine something that makes you feel good, like soaking in a warm bath, can help you to train your brain and naturally strengthen your “good mood amygdala.”
What’s most important is to pay attention to the small trivial things that you never noticed before. These small trivial things may just be what sets you up for an amazing day tomorrow.
We have a proposal for you. No people are walking past the windows at Entô. There are barely any man-made structures. We want you to try to sleep tonight with the curtains drawn. It might be pitch black, and you may not be able to see anything, but outside of those windows is the ocean, and that ocean is vast and spreads as far as the eye can see. While immersing yourself in this feeling of being surrounded by the ocean, let's reflect on our day. Let’s fall asleep full of excitement for what waits for us tomorrow.
