There’s a nostalgic aura in Moji that locals refer to as “Mojiko Retro,” which is perfectly embodied here at the former Moji Mitsui Club. Along with its atmosphere and appearance, it’s also famous for hosting Albert Einstein and his wife during the Christmas season of 1922. He stayed for New Year’s day and enjoyed making mochi and experiencing Japanese culture. His outgoing personality and enthusiasm surprised the locals, who didn’t often see foreigners. It must have been quite a treat to see Einstein enjoying Japanese culture.
Some visitors come to Moji to remember their brothers and sisters who died in the war during the battles around the area. They come here in honor of their loved ones who still fill their hearts with fond memories, and the former Moji Mitsui Club connects them. People still feel this connection as they walk by the building, which remains an unchanged piece of history.
Memories will live on through the former Moji Mitsui Club.
