After having a few drinks, let’s eat some udon at Sukesan Udon. As for dessert…
“Adzuki-Bean covered mochi?!”

It may seem like an unlikely pair, but Sukesan Udon is famous for its udon and fresh botamochi, or adzuki bean-covered mochi, which is said to be “the ultimate dessert."

The combination of sweet and salty anko wrapping in a soft freshly baked rice cake can only be appreciated by tasting it. There was a time when food stalls in Tanga Market served botamochi instead of liquor and steelworkers would eat botamochi after meals to muster up the “strength for another day.”

In an attempt to maintain this culture, the founder of Sukesan Udon and his wife started making botamochi and selling it around Japan. Now they sell 4.5 million pieces annually.
