Back in the Meiji era, they built the Ogura Bridge specifically for the Okura train line to cross the river, but in just 20 years, Kyushu Railway discontinued that line and the bridge was no longer used. However, the brick-arched bridge is still in place to remind people about the bright future it represented.

The bridge currently stands as the “Former Kyushu Railway Ogura Bridge Ruins,” now a part of the road itself.

The former Kyushu Railway Chayamachi Bridge is also nearby.
While the area around the bridges has almost completely changed, the bridges themselves remain untouched and unchanged, providing a glimpse into the past.
