Wakamatsu Station used to be next to the coal shipping port. It’s a small station but at one point it handled the largest amount of cargo in all of Japan. The platform is long and wide, reminiscent of a time when Wakamatsu prospered.

All of the coal factories of Wakamatsu are long gone, but the coal cars remain a part of the legacy and are on display at Wakamatsu station.
The locals take pride in the glory of Wakamatsu and don’t want to see it disappear. They’ll do everything in their power to keep the memory here alive forever.
