MR. HANAMURA MINORU (MR. KEO SAROM)
BORN IN 1948 IN SIHANOUKVILLE, LIVES IN KANAGAWA

In 1979, while living in a refugee camp, Sarom was discriminated against due to his lighter skin colour. People accused him of being Yuon (derogatory term for Vietnamese) or Chinese. Sarom thought that despite his Chinese origin, he was born in Cambodia, he studied Khmer, grew up in Cambodia and he had Khmer nationality. To prove that he was Khmer, he decided to tattoo his body with Yantra. Sarom did not have a clear idea of what tattoo he wanted. The tattooist decided to tattoo him with Preah Vesondor, who was known for his selfless giving. Those who saw his tattoo would know that Sarom is kind and helpful. The tattoo was also a protective Yantra. After getting the tattoo, Sarom likes to show it off by leaving his upper body naked and only cover himself with his wife’s krama.
