MRS. SOK PHORN
BORN IN TAKEO IN 1965. LIVES IN KANAGAWA
Phorn and her then future husband lived in the same camp. They saw each other every day. He proposed to her when she reached 18. Phorn recalled how this lace and silk skirt were gifted to her when her husband proposed. Phorn was planning to tailor a top with this lace when they reached Japan. Unfortunately, the lace was torn. She did not want to throw away her husband’s gift, so she has kept the lace and uses it as a table cover to this day. They had a traditional Khmer wedding in Khao-I-Dang camp with a Khmer priest and wearing traditional clothes. Two years after they got married, she gave birth to a son, and her husband moved to live in Chunbhuri camp.
