Time Travel by Rickshaw in Nara

1300 years ago Nara was the capital of Japan. Influenced by European and other Asian countries, it is thought by many to be the land where Japanese culture was born. Among its long history, important traditions and events were fostered. Tōdai-ji's yearly Buddhist ceremony (Shūni-e), has been carried out every year since the year 1270, with no exceptions. With a history of over 50 years, Nara's Daimonji, a ceremony in which a large kanji (or Chinese character) is burned on a mountain, has often been blessed with good weather and is carried out every year.
