A Night Walk Through Dōgo Park

Introduction

The Monument’s Forgotten Words Upon the Nighttime Hill

The dreamy lights of the Dōgo Onsen street reach out and entice travelers, as if beckoning to another world.
When you escape the bustle and step foot inside the quiet of Dōgo Park, you are greeted by gentle winds and whispering trees.

Here, the history of Isaniwa Hill has been told since antiquity. During the middle ages, Yuzuki Castle was built there by the Kōno Clan, who ruled the former province of Iyo, now present-day Ehime.

While locals lived their lives near the hot springs, politics and spirituality came together upon that hill.
By day the park is full of children’s laughter amidst the trees and cherry blossoms. At night, it shows a completely different facet; earthen walls wreathed in silence, water weeds adrift in the sleeping moat, and the faint ridgeline of the hill itself…

It feels as if time itself stops.
Listen to our audio guide and open the door to a world far away from the hot spring lights. The dark of Dōgo Park beckons you, now step inside.
